Since coming to the United States from the UK almost 30 years ago, and after beginning employment with a large office equipment dealer, I have been associated with some of the most successful top-flight companies... such as Canon, Kodak, Ricoh and Toshiba.
During this time I have witnessed an evolution brought about by technology that I doubt anyone could have predicted all those years ago. What hasn’t changed though is the intense need for companies to stay competitive, differentiate themselves, invest in their human assets, and especially to secure the loyalty of their customers.
After leaving college and beginning my professional life, I have essentially been involved in three exciting and synergistically related areas; sales and sales management, marketing, and training & development. Having held positions such as National Sales Director, and Director of Training with these major companies, I have accumulated enormous practical experience. In my sales management capacities, I have been responsible for activities and bottom line results of large organizations with responsibility for significant headcount. In my various roles in sales training, I have trained literally hundreds of students in sales process, sales management and leadership techniques. Of course, we all know the reward in sales lies in achieving targets, but the reward that comes from seeing people that you have trained grow and succeed has delivered even greater satisfaction.
In the past few years I’ve been at the heart of the development of some of the most effective marketing programs to drive new product segments such as ‘business color’. These programs have resulted in unprecedented market-share levels for the manufacturer. I’ve also created groundbreaking growth campaigns resulting in double-digit annual expansion without compromising profit targets, benefitting both manufacturers and dealers.
